The newly-built building of Shantou Station Phase I will be officially put into use on September 20.The new station consists of 11 platforms and 24 lines, with a station building area of 100,000 square meters. It integrates high-speed railways, general speed railways, intercity railways, urban public transportation, and automobile transportation, creating an integrated transportation hub with "zero transfer", integration, and efficient distribution.

In the initial stage of the new station's operation, it is planned to operate 37 pairs of EMUs per day, mainly heading towards Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Hong Kong West Kowloon, Wuhan, Zhangjiajiexi, Guilin North and other directions, with an expected daily passenger volume of 32,000.In the initial stage of operation, the Station will provide manual ticketing services at the "Ticket Office 4" next to the north entrance and the comprehensive service desk in the waiting room, and set up 31 self-service ticket vending machines next to the north and south entrances, the comprehensive service desk in the waiting room, and the east side of the social corridor outside the exit. The next step is to renovate the existing Shantou Station. After the renovation, the existing station building will be integrated with the building of Shantou Station Phase I built this time, and will be put into use simultaneously with the Eastern Guangdong Intercity Railway, forming a high-level national integrated transportation hub that connects east and west and integrates the station with the city.

　　新建汕头站一期站房9月20日正式启用

　　新建汕头站一期站房将于9月20日正式启用。新站站场规模11台24线，站房规模10万平方米，集高速铁路、普速铁路、城际铁路与市公共交通及汽车运输为一体，打造“零换乘”、一体化及高效集散的综合交通枢纽。

　　新站启用初期，计划日均开行动车组列车37对，主要开往广州、深圳、香港西九龙、武汉、张家界西、桂林北等方向，预计日均到发旅客3.2万人次。开通初期，车站将在北进站口旁的“售票处4”和候车室综合服务台提供人工售票服务，并在南北进站口旁、候车室综合服务台和出站口外社会通廊东侧设置31台自助售取票机。下一步将对既有汕头站进行改造，既有站房经改造后与本次一期建设站房连成整体，届时将与粤东城际同步启用，形成东西联通、站城融合的高水平全国性综合交通枢纽。
