After setting the Guinness World Record for the "Largest Image Made of Rubik's Cubes" using 109,000 cubes last year, Shantou returned this year with the same spirit of creativity and collaboration to take on another Guinness challenge! On the afternoon of October 22, Shantou set a new Guinness World Record for the "Most People Participated in Building an Interlocking Block Puzzle In 8 Hours".
Under the theme "Hundred Cities, Hundred Schools", the challenge united 1,860 teachers and students from institutions including Shantou Preschool Education College, Shantou University, Lim Por-yen Technology Secondary School, Shantou Technician College, and Chenghai Vocational and Technical School. Working on a massive 18-meter-long, 5-meter-high back-board, they collaborated to assemble a stunning panorama using about 1.4 million building blocks in just 8 hours—capturing iconic landmarks from universities and cities across China. Working in 465 groups, participants collaborated on separate sections based on meticulously designed drawings. The event was not only a challenge about speed and scale, but also a vivid practice of deep integration of industry and education.
