On November 26, a delegation led by Ong Ye Kung, Singapore's Minister for Health and Coordinating Minister for Social Policies, visited Shantou, and held in-depth discussions with local officials on further strengthening cooperation in areas such as economy and trade, culture, and medical and health services.
During the meeting, Mayor Chen Tao said that this year marks the 35th anniversary of China-Singapore diplomatic relations. Shantou attaches great importance to its cooperation with Singapore in achieving win-win economic outcomes, fostering cultural exchanges and integration, and strengthening people-to-people bonds. He hoped that the two sides would further promote friendly exchanges, enhance friendship and mutual trust, expand areas of cooperation, and achieve mutual benefits and win-win results. Ong Ye Kung hoped to use this visit as an opportunity to further enhance mutual understanding and deepen the friendly relationship between Shantou and Singapore, actively promoting exchanges and cooperation in broader areas and at deeper levels.
During the visit, Ong Ye Kung and his delegation also visited the Shantou International Eye Center and held a symposium. The two sides hope to further expand and deepen all-round cooperation in key specialties such as ophthalmology, join hands to address global health challenges, and better benefit the people of the two places.

新加坡社会政策统筹部长兼卫生部长王乙康一行莅汕
11月26日,新加坡社会政策统筹部长兼卫生部长王乙康一行莅汕访问,与我市围绕进一步加强两地经贸、文化、医疗卫生等领域的合作进行深入交流。
市长陈涛在会见中表示,今年是中新两国建交35周年,汕头高度重视与新加坡在经济共赢、文化交融和情感联通方面的合作,希望进一步促进友好往来,增进友谊互信,拓展合作领域,实现互利共赢。王乙康希望以此次访问为契机,进一步增进汕头与新加坡之间的相互了解,深化友好关系,积极推动双方在更广领域、更深层次开展交流合作。
访问期间,王乙康一行还参观了汕头国际眼科中心并进行座谈交流。双方希望进一步拓展和深化在眼科等重点专科领域的全方位合作,携手应对全球健康挑战,更好造福两地人民。
