On December 12, more than 50 members of the Chen Cihong lineage from Singapore, Thailand, and Hong Kong, China, made a special trip to their ancestral home—the former residence of Chen Cihong in Chenghai District, Shantou—to pay homage to their ancestors, reminisce about their ancestors' entrepreneurial journey, discuss their family's history, explore the development of overseas Chinese affairs in the new era, and pool the support and energy of overseas Chinese nationals to help build their hometown Shantou.

Chen Cihong was a renowned overseas Chinese businessman from the Chaoshan region in modern times. The former residence of Chen Cihong he built is hailed as the "No. 1 Overseas Chinese Residence in Lingnan" and stands as a landmark of Chaoshan’s overseas Chinese hometown culture. The members of the Chen Cihong lineage who returned to their ancestral home this time span four generations, ranging from elders in their eighties to children just two or three years old. These family members said that in the future they would carry forward the spirit of their ancestors, give full play to the role of overseas Chinese as a bond, and actively contribute more to the development of their hometown Shantou.

陈慈黉家族五十余位后人返乡谒祖

　　12月12日，来自新加坡、泰国及中国香港的陈慈黉家族成员一行五十余人，专程回到汕头澄海陈慈黉故居寻根问祖，追忆先辈创业历程，共话家族历史渊源，探讨新时代侨务发展，为助力家乡建设凝聚侨心侨力。

　　陈慈黉是近代潮汕著名侨商，其兴建的陈慈黉故居被誉为“岭南第一侨宅”，是潮汕侨乡文化的标志性建筑。此次返乡的家族后人涵盖四代人，有八十多岁的长辈，也有两三岁的小童。家族成员们表示，未来将继续传承先辈精神，发挥侨胞纽带作用，积极为家乡汕头的发展贡献更多力量。
