The railway transport period for the 2026 New Year's Day holiday spanned from December 31, 2025, to January 4, 2026, for a total of five days. During the first three-day holiday of the year, Shantou Railway Station experienced a significant surge in passenger traffic, setting a new record with a cumulative total of 294,000 passenger trips (arrivals and departures), a 160.7% year-on-year increase. Of this total, 150,000 were departing passengers (a 169.1% year-on-year increase) and 144,000 were arriving passengers (a 152.4% year-on-year increase), both setting new historical records for the New Year's Day holiday. It is worth noting that since the full line of the Shantou-Shanwei high-speed railway became operational, Shantou Railway Station has handled a total of 618,000 passenger trips (arrivals and departures), an 89.3% year-on-year increase.

元旦假期汕头站旅客创历史新高

　　2026年元旦假期铁路运输期限自2025年12月31日至2026年1月4日，共计5天。开年首个小长假，汕头站客流大幅攀升，旅客运输量再创新高——累计到发旅客29.4万人次，同比增长160.7%。其中，发送旅客15万人次，同比增长169.1%；到达旅客14.4万人次，同比增长152.4%，刷新元旦假期客流历史纪录。值得关注的是，汕汕高铁全线开通以来，汕头站到发旅客61.8万人次，同比增长89.3%。
