Recently, the Symposium Commemorating the 120th Birthday of Mr. Cai Chusheng was solemnly held at the Former Residence of Cai Chusheng in Tongyu Town, Chaoyang District, Shantou City. The event was jointly organized by the China Film Association, the Guangdong Provincial Film Bureau, the Guangdong Federation of Literary and Art Circles, and the Publicity Department of the CPC Shantou Municipal Committee. Numerous prominent figures from China's film industry, along with experts and scholars from the literary and art circles, gathered at the hometown of this distinguished predecessor to review Mr. Cai Chusheng's artistic life and carry forward his creative spirit of taking root among the people and keeping pace with the times. During the event, multiple guests paid tribute to this film pioneer by donating precious historical materials and creating calligraphy works, highly praising Shantou's city heritage and presenting this famous coastal cultural city with heartfelt cultural gifts.
Mr. Cai Chusheng was a founder of Chinese realist films and a pioneer of progressive Chinese films. The Song of the Fishermen, a film directed by him, became the first Chinese film to win an international award. The film The Spring River Flows East, which he co-directed with Zheng Junli, is acclaimed as a "monument in the history of Chinese films". It became a paradigm of Chinese realist films and profoundly influenced the development trajectory of Chinese films.
The Former Residence of Cai Chusheng and the Shantou Film Association will systematically organize, professionally restore, and properly preserve the precious historical materials donated this time. Through various forms such as special exhibitions and academic research, they will ensure that these collections, which bear the original aspiration of Chinese films, truly "come alive", continuing to better tell the stories of Mr. Cai Chusheng, Chinese films, and Shantou's cultural preservation efforts.

纪念蔡楚生诞辰120周年座谈会在汕举行
近日，由中国电影家协会、广东省电影局、广东省文联、汕头市委宣传部共同主办的纪念蔡楚生先生诞辰120周年座谈会在我市潮阳区铜盂镇蔡楚生故居隆重举办。众多国内电影界重量级名家、文艺界专家学者齐聚先贤故里，重温蔡楚生先生的艺术人生，传承其扎根人民、贴近时代的创作精神。活动期间，多位嘉宾以捐赠珍贵史料、留下书法墨宝的方式，致敬电影先驱，盛赞汕头城市底蕴，为这座滨海文化名城留下了饱含深情的文化厚礼。
蔡楚生先生是中国现实主义电影的奠基人、中国进步电影的先驱者，其执导的《渔光曲》成为首部在国际上获奖的中国影片，与郑君里合作执导的《一江春水向东流》被誉为 “中国电影史上的丰碑”，成为中国现实主义电影的典范之作，深刻影响了中国电影的发展轨迹。
蔡楚生故居和市电影家协会将对此次获赠的珍贵史料进行系统整理、专业修复与妥善保管，并将通过专题展陈、学术研究等多种形式，让这批承载着中国电影初心的藏品真正“活起来”，持续讲好蔡楚生先生故事、中国电影故事、汕头文化保护故事。
