On April 17, the premiere ceremony of the Chaoshan dialect film Dear You, directed by local director Lan Hongchun, was held in Shantou.
Inspired by the vibrant, earthy everyday life of the Chaoshan region, the film uses "Qiaopi" (a form of mail mixing correspondence and remittance documents from overseas Chinese) as a narrative thread. It tells the story of a grandson, Xiaowei, who travels to Thailand to search for his grandfather who has been out of contact for 40 years, uncovering family saga spanning half a century. The film was shot in multiple locations across Shantou City, Chaozhou City, and Jieyang City, featuring iconic Chaoshan landmarks such as Shantou’s Small Park, Chaozhou's Taifo Hall, and Jiefang Road in Mianhu Town, Jieyang City. It authentically restores the natural and cultural landscapes of Chaoshan, presenting audiences with a vivid portrayal of local customs and lifestyles. The film is officially scheduled for a nationwide release on April 30.
