On the afternoon of May 8, a delegation led by Zhao Caiqiang, President of the Canton Chamber of Commerce Canada, visited Shantou. They held in-depth discussions with local officials on deepening economic and trade cooperation as well as people-to-people exchanges between the two places, and tapping the potential of overseas Chinese in the new era.

During the meeting, Wen Zhanbin, Secretary of the CPC Shantou Municipal Committee, hoped that the Canton Chamber of Commerce Canada would, as always, care about and promote Shantou, and deepen pragmatic cooperation in fields such as industries, economy, trade, culture, and tourism to achieve mutual benefit and common development, thereby contributing to the healthy and stable development of China-Canada relations. Zhao Caiqiang said that the Canton Chamber of Commerce Canada would fully leverage its platform and resource advantages to encourage more Guangdong businesspeople in Canada and friendly organizations to pay attention to and visit Shantou, promote effective and in-depth exchanges and cooperation across various fields, and support Shantou in achieving new progress in its modernization drive.

　　5月8日下午，加拿大粤商会会长赵财强一行莅汕，与我市就深化两地经贸合作和人文往来、做好新时代“侨”的文章等进行深入交流。

　　市委书记温湛滨在座谈中希望加拿大粤商会一如既往地关心汕头、宣传汕头，深化产业、经贸、文旅等领域务实合作，实现互利互惠、共同发展，为中加关系健康稳定发展添砖加瓦。赵财强表示，加拿大粤商会将充分发挥平台和资源优势，带动更多旅加粤商和友好团体关注汕头、走进汕头，推动各领域交流合作走深走实，助力汕头现代化建设取得新成效。
