Recently, the Q2 2026 list of the "China Museum Hot List" was released, and Shantou Museum made the "Top 100 Popular Prefecture-Level Museums" list.

The "China Museum Hot List" is an important bellwether for measuring the popularity and social influence of China's museum sector. Shantou Museum’s being selected into the List this time serves as a high recognition of its work in cultural relic protection, displays and exhibitions, and social services. As a national second-class museum, since its establishment in 1960, Shantou Museum has consistently been the core institution for the collection, protection, research, publicity, and education of cultural relics in Shantou. It also operates under the additional name of the "Shantou Archaeological Team" and serves as the leading unit of the Eastern Guangdong Cultural Relics and Archaeology Workstation. Shantou Museum not only houses over 13,000 historical artifacts dating from the Neolithic Age onwards, but also features permanent basic exhibitions such as "Treasures of Eastern Guangdong" and "Global Chinese Remittances Connecting the World", which showcase the historical culture of Chaoshan and the unique characteristics of overseas Chinese.

汕头市博物馆跻身全国地市级博物馆百强榜单

　　近日，“中博热搜榜”2026年第二季度榜单发布，汕头市博物馆上榜“百强热门地市级博物馆”名单。

　　“中博热搜榜”是衡量我国博物馆行业热度与社会影响力的重要风向标。此次入选，是对汕头市博物馆在文物保护、陈列展览及社会服务方面工作的高度认可。作为国家二级博物馆，汕头市博物馆自1960年建馆以来，始终是汕头市文物收藏、保护、研究、宣传和教育的核心机构，同时加挂“汕头市考古队”牌子，并担任粤东文物考古工作站站长单位。馆内不仅珍藏有自新石器时代以来的历代文物逾13000件，更常年设有《粤东藏珍》《侨银通四海》等展现潮汕历史文化与华侨特色的基本陈列。
