On August 22, the 17th Guangdong Provincial Games concluded in Maoming City. The Shantou delegation ultimately secured 13.5 gold medals, 9.5 silver medals, and 16.5 bronze medals, with a total score of 1,493 points, and was awarded the Sportsmanship Award.

At this year's Provincial Games, the Shantou delegation sent 436 athletes, 51 coaches, and 46 staff members to compete in 19 events in the competitive sports category—including track and field, swimming, weightlifting, and diving—as well as 2 events in the mass sports category: dragon boat racing and aero-modeling. Shantou won gold medals in surfing, sailing, wrestling, track and field, and other events. In the 3x3 basketball event, the Shantou representative team clinched third place in the Men's Group A. This marks the first time Shantou has won a medal in a collective ball sport event since the 11th Guangdong Provincial Games in 2002, achieving a breakthrough.

汕头代表团获广东省第十七届运动会体育道德风尚奖

　　8月22日，广东省第十七届运动会在茂名落下帷幕。汕头代表团最终收获金牌13.5枚，银牌9.5枚，铜牌16.5枚，总分1493分，并获体育道德风尚奖。

　　本届省运会，汕头代表团派出436名运动员、51名教练员和46名工作人员，参加竞技体育组田径、游泳、举重、跳水等19个项目和群众体育组龙舟、航空模型2个项目的角逐。我市在冲浪、帆船、摔跤、田径等项目斩获金牌。在三人篮球项目，我市代表队获得男子甲组第三名，是自2002年第11届省运会以来，我市首次在球类集体项目比赛中获得奖牌，实现了突破。
