As a key provincial construction project, the overall construction progress of the Guang’ao Port Access Railway has reached 80%. All conventional tunnelling works have been completed, while more than 470 meters of shield tunneling works remain, and efforts are now focused on achieving the shield tunneling breakthrough.

The Guang’ao Port Access Railway line branches off from Shantou Station on the Guangzhou-Meizhou-Shantou Railway, crosses Shantou’s inner bay in the form of a tunnel, and connects to the Guang’ao Port area via Haojiang District. The newly built line is a double-track railway for both passenger and freight traffic, with a main line totaling 16.4 kilometers in length. It is constructed to Class I railway standards with a design speed of 160 km/h. The controlling project—the Shantou Bay Tunnel—is the first undersea railway tunnel in China designed for both passenger and freight traffic. It is approximately 10 kilometers long, of which the shield tunneling section is 2,990 meters long. It adopts a combination of "cut-and-cover method + shield tunneling method + conventional tunnelling method" for construction. The remaining shield tunneling section of over 470 meters is currently the “hardest nut to crack" in the construction process. The project aims to complete the shield tunnel breakthrough by June 2027 and is expected to open to traffic in the fourth quarter of 2028.

汕头广澳港疏港铁路冲刺盾构贯通

　　作为省重点建设项目，广澳港疏港铁路整体建设进度已完成80%，其中矿山法隧道施工全部完成，盾构法隧道还剩470余米，正冲刺盾构贯通。

　　广澳港疏港铁路线路自广梅汕铁路汕头站引出，以隧道形式穿越汕头内海湾，经濠江区接入广澳港区。新建线路为客货共线双线铁路，正线全长16.4公里，按Ⅰ级铁路标准建设，设计速度160公里/小时。控制性工程——汕头海湾隧道是国内首条客货共线铁路海底隧道，全长约10公里，其中盾构段长2990米，采用“明挖法+盾构法+矿山法”施工，剩余470余米盾构段正是当前施工中最难啃的“硬骨头”。项目力争2027年6月完成盾构隧道贯通，预计2028年第四季度建成通车。
