On the afternoon of October 29, Dr. Derek Goh, Chairman of the Teochew International Federation, and a delegation of worldwide Teochew community leaders visited Shantou. They held in-depth discussions with relevant leaders of Shantou on deepening economic, trade, and cultural exchanges and cooperation, and on tapping the potential of overseas Chinese in the new era. They shared fond memories of their hometown and discussed good development strategies together.
During the meeting, Zhuang Yuequn, Secretary of the CPC Shantou Municipal Committee, hoped that the Teochew International Federation would continue to play its role as a bridge and link, facilitating connections in areas such as the export of “Chaoshan products,” the digital economy, urban renewal, and the integration of culture and tourism, thereby encouraging Teochew compatriots to deeply participate in Shantou’s modernization drive. Dr. Derek Goh stated that the Teochew International Federation would always remain devoted to Teochew hometown and unite Teochew compatriots. It would continue to deepen exchanges and cooperation with Shantou in the fields of economy and trade, science and technology, education, culture, and youth affairs; unite and mobilize more Teochew associations and businesses at home and abroad to contribute wisdom and strength to the development of their hometown; and spare no effort in successfully organizing the 24th Teochew International Convention, making greater contributions to the cause of fostering Teochew fellowship and unity worldwide.
