To ease the traffic pressure by the increasingly saturated transit traffic in the west downtown, Shantou is gearing up the planning of the fourth harbor channel connecting north and south sides - Niutianyang fast track. Currently the initial program of the project route has been released, and the Municipal Transportation Bureau has launched preparatory work.

Under the program, Niutianyang fast-track starts from Yuepugou Nancun section of Shantou-Kunming Expressway, extending southwards through Tuojiang Street to State Road 206 University Avenue and the planned Jinfeng Road and Jinsha Road, with a total length of 16 km and design speed of 100 km. After completion, it will not only become Shantou＇s main transit route, but also form the fast outer ring with Shan-Kun, Shan-Zhan and Shan-Shen expressway and State Road G324 and G206, to further improve the dimensional transportation network in the downtown.

　　为缓解中心城区西部过境车流量日益饱和所带来的交通压力，我市正加紧规划主城区南北两岸第四条过海通道——牛田洋快速通道。目前项目路线初步方案已经出炉，市交通运输局已启动前期准备工作。
　　根据方案，牛田洋快速通道起于汕昆高速公路月浦沟南村路段，向南经鮀江街道与国道206线大学路、规划中的金凤西路和金砂西路连接，全长16公里，设计时速100公里。项目建成后，不仅将成为汕头市主要过境通道，而且将与汕昆、汕湛、沈海等三条高速和国道G324线、G206线共同形成中心城区的快速外环线，进一步完善中心城区立体网络。
