In 2013, the State Council approved and announced the project of incorporating the seventh batch of major national historical and cultural protection sites (a total of 1943) into the existing National key cultural relics protection units (a total of 47), and three sites of our city such as Qilu Fort Battery, Wenguang Tower and the Exhibition Hall ofEastern Expedition Army Revolutionary Historical Sitewere selected into the project, fulfilling the "zero breakthrough" in being selected into the National key cultural relics protection.

Qilu Fort Battery, commonly known as Stone Fort Battery, is a fort which has been well preserved and has the largest independent structure area, and has become Shantou Stone Fort Park since 1991 after comprehensive renovation. Wenguang Tower was first built in the first year of Song Shaoxing (1131), has a tower as high as 42 meters and an octagonal plane, and is a pavilion style pagoda with seven-storey. The Exhibition Hall ofEastern Expedition Army Revolutionary Historical Sitewas first built in 1924, integrates commemoration and education into one, and is the best preserved red ruin in our city.
