The construction of Shan-zhang grand double-track bridge on Shantou section of Xiamen-Shenzhen rail connecting lines commenced on September 29. It is estimated that 145 T-girders will be erected by May next year, which will facilitate superfast trains serving the Xiamen-Shenzhen rail line and solidify Shantou Railway Station as the transfer for these superfast trains at the end of the next year.
The Xiamen-Shenzhen rail connecting line project serves as a tactic complement to both Xiamen-Shenzhen railway and Meizhou-Shantou railway. Upon construction, the superfast train on the Xiamen-Shenzhen line is expected to enter the urban area of Shantou city, which will be incorporated into the state high-speed railway network system. According to a preliminary estimation, 46 pairs of trains will travel on the rail by 2020, including 29 pairs to Shenzhen, 9 pairs to Xiamen and 8 pairs to Meizhou. Shantou Station will become a crucial transportation junction in Eastern Guangdong and it will tremendously facilitate the business transactions between the Eastern Guangdong and south-eastern coastal areas of the Mainland China. The stretch of the transportation network will even cover inland areas in the future.

厦深联络线汕樟特大桥架梁施工
9月29日,厦深铁路联络线汕头段汕樟公路双线特大桥开始架梁施工,预计明年5月完成145跨T梁架设施工,为明年底厦深铁路动车开进汕头站奠定坚实基础。
厦深联络线工程是厦深铁路和梅汕铁路的组成部分。项目建成后,厦深动车将开进汕头市区,汕头将纳入全国高速铁路网络体系。据初步设计,2020年计划开行列车46对,其中,深圳方向29对,厦门方向9对,梅州方向8对,汕头站将成为粤东地区快速连接东南沿海及内陆地区重要的交通枢纽门户。
