Guangdong Province will build 1600 kilometers of Binhai Highway, approximately running east-west. The Highway will start from Raoping County in Chaozhou City, connect with 14 cities and 90 scenic spots, end at Gaoqiao Town in Lianjiang City, and connect with the road network of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. Shantou has been determined by the province as the first pilot for constructing Shantou Section of Binhai Highway, with a length of about 80 kilometers and an estimated investment of about RMB 8.8 billion. At present, Shantou is conducting the route reconnaissance of Shantou Section of Binhai Highway and the bidding work for the new channel across the Shantou Bay. Shantou is working hard for starting the construction of the pilot section by the end of this year, which will be completed and opened to traffic in 2021.

　　广东省将建1600公里滨海公路，大致呈东西走向，路线起于潮州饶平县，串联14个城市和90个景点，终点在廉江高桥镇，与广西自治区路网相接。我市已被省定为先行试点城市，建设滨海公路汕头段，长约80公里，估算投资约88亿元。目前，我市正开展滨海公路汕头段路线踏勘和跨汕头湾新通道的招标工作，项目先行段力争年底开工建设，2021年建成通车。
