Recently, the main building of Shantou Center for Taking Care of the Disabled People has been completed with the fund donated by Shantou Commerce Chamber in Shenzhen; the Center was officially delivered to the Cunxin Benevolent Association of Shantou Charity Federation for operation and management. Currently, the interior improvement of the Center is under construction. The Center is expected to be officially put into use in June; it will provide full-time care services or  day care services for more than 200 people who are severally mentally or physically handicapped.

For a Shantou＇s citizen aged 16-59, if he or she has no guardian or his or her guardian has no guardianship ability after he or she is diagnosed by a hospital of grade II or above as free from infectious disease, serious cardiovascular and cerebrovascular disease, epileptic disorder, mental illness, severe diabete, serious infection, hematological disease, or malignant tumor, he or she can submit an application to Shantou Center for Taking Care of the Disabled People, along with his or her certificate of Shantou＇s household registration and the certificate of showing that he or she is severally mentally or physically handicapped. After his or her application has passed the assessment, he or she can stay in the Center for free.

　　近日，由深圳市汕头商会捐建的汕头市慈爱托养中心继完成主体工程后，正式交由市存心慈善会进行运作管理。目前，该托养中心正在进行内部完善施工建设，力争六月正式启用，启用后可为两百多名智力、重度肢体残疾人提供全日制托养或日间照料服务。
　　我市16-59周岁，且经二级以上医院确诊无患传染病、严重心脑血管疾病、癫痫疾病、精神疾病、严重糖尿病、严重感染症、血液性疾病、恶性肿瘤等疾病，无监护人或监护人无监护能力的本市户籍持证智力残疾人或持证重度肢体残疾人，可以向该机构提出申请，通过评估即可免费入住汕头市慈爱托养中心。
