On the morning of August 10, a series of activities of Shantou Branch Venue of 2018 South China Book Festival, which were organized by the Publicity Department of the CPC Guangdong Provincial Committee,  the CPC Shantou Municipal Committee for Guiding Cultural and Ethical Progress, and the Publicity Department of the CPC Shantou Muncipal Committee, were officially launched in the Book Center of Shantou Xinhua Bookstore. These activities would last for 11 days. Under the theme of "South China Book Festival, Reading Carnival", the organizers would create a unique cultural festival for Shantou＇s citizens by taking several measures, including the sales exhibition of publications, the discount for book purchasing, famous experts＇ lectures, the display of intangible cultural heritage, and cultural interaction.

This year, it is the first time that Shantou was determined as one of the branch venues of South China Book Festival. In order to highlight the cultural connotation of Shantou City and host the event with Shantou＇s local characteristics, the South China Book Festival held in Shantou this year established one main venue —— the Book Center of Shantou Xinhua Bookstore, and several branch venues, including the Waima Book Town and Jinsha Book Town of Xinhua Bookstore, Jinzhong Campus Bookstore, Xinhua bookstores in the districts (counties) in Shantou, and Shantou Hongxin Book Town. Either in book collection or cultural interaction, the organizers based their work on Shantou＇s local contexts. Meanwhile, big discount for book purchasing is also one of the highlights of this cultural festival. During the event, a 20％ off discount is offered for all books. Some bookstores also add more preferential measures, highlighting the public benefit and inclusiveness of the event.

　　8月10日上午，由广东省委宣传部主办，汕头市文明委、汕头市委宣传部承办的2018南国书香节汕头分会场系列活动在汕头新华书店购书中心正式拉开帷幕。为期11天的系列活动将围绕“南国书香节 阅读嘉年华”这一年度主题，通过出版物展销、购书优惠、名家讲座、非遗展示、文化互动等多项举措，为鮀城市民群众打造一场独具创意的文化盛会。
　　今年，汕头首次被确定为南国书香节分会场之一。为凸显城市文化内涵，办出汕头本地特色，今年的汕头南国书香节共设市新华书店购书中心主会场和新华书店外马书城、金砂书城、金中校园书店、各区(县)新华书店、汕头市鸿欣书城等多个分会场，无论是在图书集萃还是在文化互动中都做足了本地文章。与此同时，购书优惠幅度加大也是此次文化盛宴的亮点之一，活动期间全场图书八折优惠，部分书店还叠加更多优惠措施，凸显活动公益性及普惠性。
