Shantou Railway Station's platform heightening and related projects have entered the construction end stage, and the railway station is striving to put it into use before National Day to facilitate passenger travel.
  
The heightening project of platform 1 in Shantou Railway Station Platform Upgrading and Reconstruction Project was completed and put into use in early July, and it can satisfy the requirements of EMU for passengers' boarding & alighting. At present, 13 pairs of EMUs stop at platform 1 every day. Another part of the reconstruction project is to build a new pedestrian bridge with a width of 8 meters and a span of 28.6 meters between the existing platforms 1 and 2, and to install escalators and vertical elevators for each platform. At present, the substructure and elevator shaft of the pedestrian bridge have been completed, and the steel-structured pedestrian bridge has been assembled. All upgrading and renovation works will be completed by the end of September.

汕头火车站站台升级改造工程9月底完工　

　　汕头火车站站台加高及相关工程已进入施工收尾阶段，力争国庆前投入使用，为旅客出行提供便利。

汕头火车站站台升级改造工程中的1号站台加高工程已于7月初完工并投入使用，满足动车组乘降要求，目前每天有13对动车组在1号站台停靠。改造工程的另一项为在既有1、2号站台之间新建一座宽度为8米、跨度约28.6米的旅客人行天桥，并且每个站台增设手扶电梯和垂直电梯。目前，人行天桥下部结构和电梯井已完工，钢结构的人行天桥已组装完毕，全部升级改造工程力争在9月底完工。
